Site & Exterior

The exterior of the home is the first thing seen and it is also the location where many leaking concerns can be discovered. Below are some items of a typical exterior portion of the inspection:


  • Wall-covering material
  • Windows and doors
  • Driveways and walkways
  • Stairs, steps, and ramps
  • Surface drainage and vegetation

Interior inspection

The interior of a home is exactly as it sounds. Some of the interior portion of an inspection can be found here:

  • Windows and doors
  • Garage door operation

Structure

The structure of the house is important and a high priority concern for most people. Some key inspection locations for the structural portion of an inspection are below:


  • Foundation

  • Attic

Roof

The roof is a location where many leaks and other issues can occur.  Some parts of a typical roof inspection are found below:


  • Roof-covering materials
  • Gutters and downspouts
  • Vents, Flashing, and other roof penetrations

Plumbing

The plumbing portion of a home inspection is not just sinks and toilets. Here are a few items that the typical plumbing portion of an inspection consists of:


  • Water supply
  • Fueling for water supply
  • Fixtures (Sinks, Toilets, Showers, etc.)
  • Water heating system
  • Drainage, waste, and vent systems

Electric

Electric in a home can be scary to some people. To be the most sure of electrical safety in the home, some of the items of an electrical inspection are listed below:


  • Main service disconnect
  • Panelboards, circuit breakers, and fuses
  • Service grounding and bonding
  • Switches, light fixtures, and receptacles
  • Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter and Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupter protection

Heating and Cooling

Attic, Insulation & Ventilation

Fireplace & Chimney

It is important that a fireplace and chimney function properly for the health and safety reasons. Some aspects of a fireplace and chimney inspection are here:
